Default Why do I not listen...

Yesterday, whilst fishing, I lost a few fish and missed several takes. All the missed fish and takes came off the good old Hares Ear size 12 so I was reluctant to change.

A voice in the back of my head was telling me to try a smaller fly. Did I listen? No.

I was convinced I would catch, I just had to be patient.

So, between 0900 and 1430 I had not banked a thing and was a bit miffed and about to pack up and find a pub that was open.

Before I went, however, I tried a pheasant tail nymph on a 16.

Three fish banked within 30 minutes was the result.

An important lesson learned, I think.

Fish with two flies (when casting ability and fishery rules allow) and you can always hedge your bets in such circumstances.
