Default Do Blobs only catch stockies?

What do you think?, in the latter posts on the thread fly magazine (page 6) a statment is made suggesting any fish caught on a blob amounts to "mindless stockie bashing"
Personally, i find this suggestion ridiculous as i have had many wild browns on a small orange blob!!!!!!!. Mr Clay begs to differ.......

Absolutely no !............. anyone who say's other is wrong.

Blob's will catch more stockies than wild fish there's no disputing that, however wild fish will take a blob.

Nope!

I caught a lovely 2.5lb brownie on one last season. Haven't been out this season yet

It was black and green with silver holo bits in the green marabou tail

I assume this is in relation with an example i have given. Nobody said they will only catch stockies, but if you will use blob or glo bug you can only dream you shall be nearly as succesfull as someone who shall be MTH. I cought a wild brownie on a piece of aluminium sheet wraped around a hook, but shall not say this is exactly the best way to fish for them.

Of course the blob will catch wild brown trout.

But the use of blobs is generally by matchmen targetting recently stocked rainbow trout.

Blobs catch stockies.....lots of stockies thats a fact and without doubt they are one of the best competition lures available.

However they also catch resident fish & overwintered fish especially when they are feeding on daphnia.

Ron Clay does not like competition anglers..and will stir up trouble at every opportunity.. so whyo we bother to rise to his narrowminded lines.

If you don't like Blobs don't use them.....but leave it to the choice of the individual.

Besides there is a lot more to fishing a Blob or lure well (especially when the fish are deep) than Ron thinks; it most definatly is not just a case of throwing it out and ripping it back for mindless stockies..

Tiz true Ronaldo !, however some matchmen targett rising residents with a floater and blob

Would there be any skill in targetting the rise with this method ?........

If its effective i'll do it Freddie....you know that.

Remember your first problem is having a conscience, your second is acting on it !

Residents or stockies makes no difference to me.....
