The Essential Fly is on a distinguished road
Default Tick Prevention Week

Lyme Disease and other associated diseases such as Borreliosis are potentially very serious. They are here in the UK. A member of The Essential Fly team was previously affected by such a condition (now recovered thankfully) and we are trying to do all we can to help spread the word about preventing other people being affected.

Anyone, of any age, can be infected. By being outdoors it is actually very easy to be bitten by a tick that is smaller than a full stop on the page of your newspaper. So to all you anglers out there, please be aware.

There is a fantastic charity called BADA-UK who are working tirelessly to raise the profile of these conditions. They are running a tick prevention week and I would urge you to visit their website Home page: TPW and please tell your family and friends all about this. This applies to anyone who is outdoors - anglers, walkers, children playing, runners, farmers etc etc..

Thank you for taking the time to read this and pass the message on.

Ann of The Essential Fly

No problem Mostyn. Please do pass this on to your club, family and friends. Anyone can be affected - once you are out in the countryside you are at risk (rambling, dog walking, fishing, farming, looking after pets who have been in the fields - kids and adults). Without wanting to be alarmist of course, but having seen the impact of Lyme Disease I want to make as many people aware as possible.

The person here who contracted Lyme Disease was actually very lucky as it was caught and treated early but not everyone is as lucky and Lyme Disease can have very serious implications.

Thanks again - Ann
