Default Fly fishing weekend ,west of Ireland

Hi folks,

In case anyone is interested there is a weekend of flyfishing, including tutition, fly tying, etc, commencing Friday evening 23rd April 2010 at 6pm in Lough Inagh Lodge Hotel, Connemara, Co. Galway

Some top instructors are going to be present. So far as i know there are not many places left. I am not associated with the fishery, but thought this might suit some of our members who want to learn about flyfishing in an incredibly scenic and beautiful environment. I love fishing this place. Some good food and guinness too... I fished here on the last day of last season and in the first drift both my friend and I had lost a salmon each..

Anyhow, check out the below email i received today..
cheers
JJ

well jj.
ill be honest and tell you that im not really interested in the course, bit strap for cash at the moment.
but i am very interested in going to fish lough inagh by myself for a day and i was wondering if it's even possible to just rent a boat there for the day without staying in the lodge and how much it would cost approximately? also would it be any cheaper if i brought my own engine with me?
any help with this would be much appreciated cheers

If you call Inagh lodge on 095 34706, or better yet call Colin Folan on 086 8679459 this can be arranged. It is possible to just rent a boat for a days fishing, without having to stay in the hotel. You can even pop up to the hotel for lunch or a pint, which would cost the same as any cafe/restaurant. If you are thinking about fishing it a little later in the year give me a shout and i might join you...

It's an incredible lake, probably the prettiest lake in the country. Plus, there is always a chance of a Salmon or a big trout. There have been several trout taken from 5Lb to 8 or 9Lb in the past few years... Also, the sea trout are making a bit of a comeback..

Cheers
JJ

If you don't have a fishing partner and would like one, give me a shout. I might be up for a days fishing...

I'm living in Galway myself. Its a good base for fishing the west. Keep an ear open for mayfly on lough corrib. Last season was pretty good during may so i am told at least...

cheers

Last year's boat hire (no engine) was 65 euro per day, I think

First week in May on Inagh may be hard work for salmon and may be too early for seatrout although you would have great craic with the browns.

BTW, the Fly Fishing Course for this weekend has been postponed

Good to hear that the fish on Corrib are finally looking upwards.. about bloody time...

Cheers for updating shuck raider. I didn't know the weekends event was cancelled. Most likely due to the flight restrictions etc...

cheers
