Default Loch Linnhe (and Leven?)

Hi folks, this is probably more related to sea than fly fishing but I'll ask anyway

Family holiday in a lodge on the shore of Loch Linnhe at Kentallen in August with friends, and my buddy is taking his boat up (SRIB with outboard motor) He's keen to learn a bit of fishing and obviously I'm thrilled at having a boat to use! Don't really know the area at all though and wondering what gear to take - sea/spinning/fly probably, as much as I can cram in without the missus chucking it out, you know the score Just after some fun fishing as we'll have the kids with us. Spinning or possibly fly fishing for mackies etc would be fun, maybe some shorecasting if I can squeeze that gear in too. Its only round the corner from Loch Leven, so I'm wondering if thats worth a visit too, although it may be a bit too "proper" fly fishing for them. Anyway, any tips, suggestions, do's and don'ts very much appreciated, especially as the pressure's on me to come up with the goods for some good sport and some good fresh fish for the table! Thanks in advance

Jeff

I stayed at Appin House back in 1975. The owners were trying to get a boat fishing centre going but we found out from the locals that the trawlers came into the loch whenever there was a big blow and they cleaned it out. We caught a few mackeral when we were fortunate to come a cross them but they move quickly and keeping contact was a problem.

We also fished at anchor in the entrance to Loch leven with pirks and only caught small codling, under a pound.

I know it was a long time ago but, I would try to get some local knowledge before you go, avoid dissapointment.
