Default Online licence issue

I tried to buy my licence online last thursday evening and kept getting to a page that said my details were incorrect. I tried 3 times in all then gave up and didnt think anyting else about it. I've checked my bank this morning to find all of the transactions have been taken from my account.

I've spoke to to the EA bloke on the helpline this morning and there has been an issue with the payments system and apparently this has happend to a lot of people.

If you tried to buy a licence online last week and your card was declined you might want to check your bank accunt to see if the money has been taken. I know a few prople who have had the same issue.

Sorry if this has allready been posted I did a quick search but couldnt find anything so I just thought I'd mention it.

Pete

It happened to me also, 5 payments taken. From the discussion I had with the EA, it appears to be linked to applications on Good Friday.

Hi Vince, so what conclusion did you get to with the EA?

I was told they would be doing mass refund on the failed aplications between certain times. He basicly said that theres nothing I could to about it, just wait for my money to be refunded.

Yeah. I fell foul of the poxy online payment system too. 2 payments taken, only one confirmation mail and, as yet, no license!

Pete

I had to give my details and they said that they would phone me and let me know when they have sorted it. I suspect they are swamped because it took me the best part of an hour to get a license over the phone, which I did when the website kept bouncing me.

regards

Vince

Cheers Vince. Ive posted this on my site too and someone has replied saying they have just been informed by the EA that all refunds will be made by the end of play Friday.

Fingers crossed

Pete

I've just recieved this:

Thank you for your recent correspondence about the problems you had purchasing your rod licence online.
After investigating this problem we have found that between 1st April at 22.53 and 2nd April at 12.18 rod licence applications via the Post Office website failed to process correctly due to a national problem with a banking payment system. We are aware that customers were charged for these applications. A full refund to every customer affected has been organised and this should appear in your bank account shortly.

This also means licence applications during this period were unsuccessful and no licence will be issued. You will need to re-apply or purchase a licence from a Post Office.

If you later attempted another application and an "RL" receipt appeared as the last screen, the application was successful and a licence will be issued.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused and be sure we have worked as quickly as possible to rectify the problem. Any bank charges incurred as a direct result of this incident will be refunded on a case by case basis. Please email the details including a copy of your bank statement with all other transactions and bank account details obscured to enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk or send to Environment Agency, PO Box 544, Bradmarsh Business Park, Rotherham, S60 1BY

Rod Licence Team.

regards

Vince
