Default Cruncher Techniques ?

I've read several times where Crunchers are some anglers most productive flies. I've never used them but have tied a few hopefuls in the past week. How do you fish them ? Are they only to be used in teams or can you fish them on their own ? Thanks in advance for any info

Fish them as you would fish 'any' fly/nymph..... correct tying is: red game tail... fine silver wire rib.... PT body tied sparse.... thorax of a 'claret hue' peacock herl... a couple of turns of greenwell / badger hackle... I use the honey colour cock hackle.... When wet, it should sweep back and cover the whole body.

Why on earth call them such a base common name as "Cruncher"?

Surely there is a more romantic term for this variation of the PTN?
