Hi all i have a 10ft 6in 6/7# game fisher rod i really like the rod but i dont think my wee G3 reel balences it up, is there any rule of thumb for getting the reel to ballence the rod, I was looking at the greys grxi reel and the truefly sla reel any hints or reel suggestions much apprieated cheers bobby

I would have thought in your case it's a matter of does the reel your using feel too light, in which case go for a heavier reel, visa versa for if it feels too heavy!

Take the rod to a shop where you can try out a number of different reels for fit and feel - I am lucky enough to have a local shop with a casting pool (Airflo/Fishtec) - but wherever you choose do "Try Before You Buy".
