Default Fly patterns and names confuse me!

I have fly fished (and all other forms) for years, however, I have no idea what the 300 or so flies in my boxes are! Does anyone know any decent books or websites where I can get a comprehensive guide to names/types etc.

You don't need to pay anything to identify your flees, simply have a wee look at a fly selling webby and go through all their patterns on sale to see what each are called e.g.

I have just picked up 'Matching the Hatch' and for a novice like me it's just the ticket.

I'd second this. A great book that de-mystifies fly choice and has helped unravel my fly box (and I'm sure helped me catch more fish).

Check this website out, just hold your cursor over the pattern names.
