Exclamation Total trust is everything: flyfishusa

Been a customer for more years than I can possibly remember. Want to get 'into' fly fishing for fresh water Bass (large/small mouth in numbers in a lake about 5 miles away where I take the Doggies every day).

Call, and to my treat I get Mark B, the owner, on the phone. 'Mark, here's what I want to do, (short of the rods) what do I need? (Never did ask what this or that was going to cost, as in if you're at Ground Zero, it's going to be what it's going to be.

"What rod weight should I be using?"
"A six weight is enough."

(skip the "" from here on.)

What line?
xxx, but you should 'chop it back a couple of feet.

Ok, chop it back and toss it in.

What flies?

I'll chose and send you a selection.

Will need a reel for that, what would you suggest?

(Mark could have sold me a $200-$300 dollar reel ... 'the reel?' $49.00)

Do you need leaders?

Yes, what do you suggest?

Etc., and etc.

A good shop owner knows he has free' rain' on your credit card in-fly info .. just do what's right and you'll back, and back, and back to that 'well.'

Have zero clue what this just cost me, but it will be what's right .. and that's all I care.

Fred

Good for you that you trust your dealer, but what you just did is not advisable for others to do if they don't know who they are talking to and even then, it's not advisable. Choosing fly's, well okay, but choosing tackle you haven't had in your hand, that's your choice, but not advisable either. You could probably send it back and get another if it didn't fit you, but it's in my opinion waist of time.
But congratulations with your new gear. Let's hope it fits you.

Thumbs up Good answer Kim....

Save for 'if they're going to do right by you, they're going to.'

No chance in the 'money well' twice.

They know, they know.

And welcome to the Fora.
