Default tapered leader loop connection question???

I have just bought some Fulling Mill tapered leaders. The leaders i have always bought before had a pre tied loop for connecting to the braided loop but these do not.

What knot would you guys recommend as the best for creating a loop in the heavy butt end mono? Or is there a way of attaching them without tying a loop in them?

Cheers
Paul

PERFECTION LOOP!! It's simple and the best; as the leader stays perfectly strait from the created loop! If your not sure how to tie one then type it in to google; and you'll find videos showing how to tie them!

Default Fulling Mill leaders

These leaders are excellent for aiding turnover of long leader on a floating line. Unfortunately if you tie any form of loop into the butt end it forms a very bulky knot which frequently sticks in the rod tip eye.
About the only satisfactory method is to glue the thick butt into the core of the fly line.
Obtain a sowing machine needle with a diameter smaller than the thick butt of the leader. Insert the needle into the center of the fly line and push needle at least 5mill up the fly line and then through the side of the line. Insert thin end of leader through needle eye, pull out needle and pull leader through fly line until 100mill of thick end left. Roughen this with emery board then add dab of super glue. Pull on leader to lock glued portion into fly line.
This can be a bit fiddly and beware you dont break the needle when pushing it up the fly line.

That animation is all well and good but if you form the loops between and then around your (left for a RH tyer) thumb it's much easier to pull one through the other. That's hard to explain but there's a YouTube video somewhere that says it better. I just had a quick look but couldn't find it.

That's the way we all did it; once upon a time! And it is the best! But if you want to change leaders ?? the Perfection Loop is the best method to use!

Thanks for the replies. Very helpful as always. I will use the perfection loop as i dont always fish with the same leader. This will allow me to swap. I found this on youtube YouTube- Perfection Loop Is this the one you were meaning SharkeyP?

Thanks again
Paul

If that's the case - just needle knot into the flyline tip !

Best wishes
