Default choppy stillwaters & a trouts vision

I will be fishing down at wistlandpound res later today and know the wind will be chopping up the water, my ? is how good is a trouts vision in these conditions as i prefer to fish small dark dry flies this time of the year.

I had no luck yesterday with small dry flies , so tried some larger upto size 10 hoppers but still with no luck, it could of been just one of those days when i was going to blank anyway so still none the wiser.

Did you try doubling up the method Steve?, sit the hopper/s out there for a bit then pull it back through the wave wet style.
