Default 15 Euro to fish Lough Corrib ?

Just wondering what the reaction of any one who fishes Lough Corrib this coming season feels about making a voluntary contribution of 15 Euro to the Co/OP set up between all the clubs in the Lough Corrib Federation ,To fund the development of spawning rivers in the Corrib catchment . Like the sterling work carried out by Balindiff, Annaghdown, and Kilbeg clubs with help from the Wild Brown Trust and the W.F.B on the Kilroe river. Tickets are available from all clubs and hopefully fishing lodges, Hotels and B&B'saround the lake.

I was told about these share certificates last time I was over, I am going to try and purchase a couple next time I'm over. The lough gives me lots of enjoyment I'd be happy to give something back, especially if its going to maintenance of the spawning sites.

I'm not sure if its the plan to make them more accessible but it would be a good thing for all the B&B's to offer them to visiting anglers as I think most people would be happy to pay.

It is totally voluntary you can buy as many as you want. You will receive a receipt and if you wish contact details can be given so that you can recive any updates or news letter.

Default Corrib

This sounds like a good idea and I would gladly pay it.

15 Euro? I'd be quite happy to pay that for a day's fishing on the Corrib.

Just to put it into context. A day ticket at the only decent stocked fishery near me is 30 Euro. I know where i'd rather be.

Just out of curiosity, are the Federation receiving any government funding for their projects?

yeah id be glad to pay 15 euro on a voluntary basis knowing that its going towards helping the survival of the habitat, my only issue would be that eventually this fee would become statutory and im totally against that! last year i was charged 35 euros to fish a river in donegal for one day only to find out later on from a local that there isnt really a salmon run worth talking about in the river any more. and when i required about a membership they were refusing to take any more, with the plan to reduce the total amount of memberships in the future. id hate to see the corrib go this way in the future.

Thumbs up 15 Euro per year per angler now thats value.

This is organised by all the clubs in the federation 12 in total i think. The money is raised by fishermen and put back into what is deemed the most productive and cost effective river giving us all bang for our buck. The W.R.F.B and the Wild Brown Trout trust are helping us out with surveys of rivers and man power, all we need is money for materials.15 euro per angler per year thats all. to help protect our sport on the corrib they charge 25 euro a day to fish some places for trout, so put in prespective its pennys.

No problem with that and to add to it I'd impose an annual fee per boat on the lake of about €50.

No problem with that Seanie. It might weed out the knobheads that dump their boats there in February/March and leave them unused for the season.
Last April some bloody clown parked a piece of sh!te in my 'spot' whilst I was out on the lake. The same 'boat' sat there unused for the entire season. Can't remember how many times I had to secure it to avoid damaging other boats. I saw it a couple of weeks ago, washed up against a wall about fifty yards from the shore. The Winter floods weren't all that bad
