Exclamation Don't forget your new fishing licence!

Just a reminder that from today (1st April) you will need to have your new fishing licence or risk a hefty fine.
You can purchase your new licence online by clicking here.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, they've only had a year to get it to me as I pay by direct debit.

I think you have done better than me. They have managed to charge my card a few extra times after having "techncal problems" with their site. I should be getting a refund but don't know when. Anyone else had this problem?

I have been in England for years and fished most of that time-not for trout
but coarse fish.
I have been back in my home town Edinburgh now for 2 years and have
started fly fishing.
As was said-We do not need a rod license in Scotland which I am not going
to complain about obviously but my question is why? Is there a historical
reason for this?
A few years back on Keith Arther's fishing show he made a not so kind
remark about all us north of the border.
Not sure of the exact words but it was something like.
" We cant care about our rivers and our fishing environment, because we
are not prepared to pay a rod license"
Used to fish with Keith when he was in South London - he is a nice guy.
But does he have a point?

No point whatsoever.
As you know the EA in england collect the revenue for fishing liscences, supposedly to improve and protect the rivers catchments and fisheries (rivers and lakes), if only one tenth of that income went to do as it says on the tin, then no complaints, however, it doesnt, and as it is a government agency, funded by taxpayers, why should one user group, and one alone, pay for the upkeep? no other user group of the english waterways. and reservoirs, pays a tax on the use of same. so why anglers?
perhaps this is his beef!

You are right there-wonder how much of the license cost does go to things relating to fishing. Think that I will ask them for a break-down.
Mind you I'm in Scotland now-probably tell me to mind my own business.
