Default Ridge pool river Moy

One for our Irish cousins over the water.
Am coming over to fish Moy end of June, ridge pool and cathedral, have heard that improvement works on weir at head of ridge pool is causing reduced catches due to dirty water.
Anyone authenticate these rumours?
regards

Well Bert, I don't see any work going on at the weirs in Ballina at the moment but they are cleaning the wall on the cathedral beat on the Emmet road side. Passed by it this morning and they are about a 1/3rd of the way down should be well finished by june. Water is dirty due to small flood, thight lines to you in june

Go on JJ your'e only jealous.

I spent many many years looking over the wall jealous at those anglers fishing for the "trapped" salmon whilst upstream the boxes took most of the fish. Jealousy turned to anger, anger to hate and I swore that I would never fish the ridge and I never will - its all so artificial. I'd swap a week of slaughter on the ridge for a fishless day at ballylaghan or down at bartra for the sea trout.

I have fished the Cathredal beat only once since they destroyed it, never again. When that much work is done it makes it akin to fishing in a swimming pool for stocked fish. Might be attractive for the tourists and revenue etc.. but for the serious salmon angler its a joke.
