Very sad news from Meon Springs....
Apologies if someone else has already posted this - but thought I'd put it up just in case.
For those who know Meon Springs in Hampshire, there was a young lad called Pasco James who was part of the furniture down there.
I'm sad to say, Pasco has passed on, at tender age of 22. He died in his sleep, apparently. No idea of the circumstances but all very tragic.
Pasco was a lovely lad. He was also one of those people who had a true gift. His cast was poetry in motion - and he had the ability to put a fly wherever he wanted it to land.
Effortless, rhythmic, gentle and easy. He made it look easy, anyway. He was also an awesome tyer - and some of his patterns caught fish when all else failed. He was always happy to share his time and his expertise.
He seemed to have a knack to catch brownies, specifically targeting them in a venue which is rammed with rainbows.
When I took up fly fishing a couple of years back, he was a massive help. Totally modest an unassuming - and nothing was ever too much trouble.
I'd go as far as to say he was a rare talent, now sadly unfulfilled.
My thoughts are also with Keith, the chap who runs the fishing at Meon. They were really close - almost father/son. Very sad indeed.
