Default Fishing the north east

Hi Guys, I will be visiting Newcastle in early May and would like to get a couple of days on the water. Any suggestions where I might get some fishing, ideally in a boat, on a larger still water?

thanks

martin

Langley dam is 14 acres has 5 boats and ample bank space to have a go at you can wade or fish the dam which is just under half the lake and very well stocked

Thanks Barry, I heard some poor reports of Derwent, with difficult fishing, bait fisherman in some areas and wind as strong as the north sea!

hi ya Derwent res can be like the north sea at times, i was there last Sunday was very windy but i went to the Bay of Plently at the west of the res there is shelter there, i got three rainbows in the last half an hour before i packet up. on its day Derwent can be a really good fishery.

If you aren't set on it having to be a large water, I think Caistron Lake, near Rothbury, is well worth a look.

Caistron Trout Fishery - Welcome to Caistron Trout Fishery - fishing lake northumberland

It's not big but it has half a dozen boats, the scenery is stunning and the fish are excellent. It's stocked with good rainbows and has some very decent resident brownies.

If you go mid-week, you may well find you have it to yourself- truly peaceful.

Like I say it's not big but it's a real pleasure to fish. I'd be very surprised if you didn't enjoy it.

Oh, and they have 2 mile of the Coquet that you can have a go at, if you'd rather, for £10/day!!
