Default Elite flies?

Ok,

If your were only allowed to choose 4 flies for the remainder of your time as a fisherman being:

1 Wet Fly
1 Nymph
1 Dry Fly
1 Lure

What would they be?

Haha, I wish it were possible to fish the Mayfly for the whole year with success... Alas, we live in imperfect world.

I would choose #10 wet caddis for spring, #16 olive dry for summer and autumn, #8 olive CZ nymph for the really cold period and a Viva for the time when rivers run high and I am forced to enter a stillwater fishery.

Here's my lot...

1 Wet Fly - Diawl Bach
1 Nymph - Goldhead GRHE
1 Dry Fly - Deer Hair Sedge
1 Lure - One of my marabou tailed 'damsels'

Boring i know, but they catch fishies...

Just an aside, if you could pick ONE fly only what would you choose?
for me a hares ear, can be a nymph or dry if rough and ginked

Well, it's lucky you didn't restrict the size of the fly. For Italian rivers:

Dry: Parachute Adams (trout; chub; carp, yes, carp, and on the surface; etc)
Wet: Don't know, don't fish wets , except for wet dry flies
Nymph: Weighted/Goldhead PTN (killer chalkstream fly)
Lures: Don't know, don't fish lures . But wait, is the Montana Nymph a nymph or a lure?
