Angry Ted Carter Postage Charges

Just ordered a rod from Ted Carters.

£26 I have been charged for next day postage by FED EX.

Just posted a rod to a forum member here, for less than a tenner, insured to £500.

What a rip off.

I bought a spare spool for a Leeda Profil salmon reel - value £14.99 - postage £6.60!

It took about three weeks to arrive.

Meantime, I had purchased 3 Leeda Profil reels (which come with a spare spool) from Ebay (Ovationleisure) - £39.99 each, postage £4.00 Royal Mail second class - arrived in 3 days.

As our American friends would say - "Go figure!"

Postage charges currently range from £1.00 to £7.70 for UK delivery, depending on the product or combination of products you order, so the most you will pay for delivery within the UK is just £7.70. When you add a product to the Cart, any delivery charge is shown there. These charge levels relate only to delivery within the UK - if you order from outside the UK a higher fee may need to be charged.
This is a quote from their website.

As far as I am aware, N.Ireland is still part of the United Kingdom.

****ing ridiculous. I will be voicing my disdain at this when they open tomorrow.

If you are over the 'Highland Line' that's about right ! ( I too use Fedex ! )

If you insisted on a specific time - that's about right too !

Pity about Royal Mail refusing to carry 2 Piece 10 footers ! They were cheap even if they did break a few !

Northern Ireland is a foreign country to Fedex!

I just posted a 9ft, 4 piece rod to England, Special Delivery with the same capacity and dimensions to the one purchased for less than £10 and insured to £500.

Where do they get £26 from??

Grommit, Sporfish and others can post similar items for less than £10, why cant Ted Carter?

If you don't like it, why don't you just cancel the order and buy elsewhere??

Royal Mail and Parcelforce are, in IMO, well and away the best. Not expensive for rods and things, insured delivery and if you are out when they call the package is usually not far away if you wish to collect it or you can arrange a redelivery via the web site.

Couriers are a complete pain in the butt, their depots are usually miles away and although they will arrange a redelivery they won't guarentee a time. At least with RM or Parcelforce you know what time they are usually about.

With RM you can send most rods insured to £500 for about seven quid.

The only advantage I can see with Fedex is that they will deliver any warranty claim package straight to you, rather than send it to Customs for you to have a first class row and probably lose in the end!!!!
