Stone Barn Point (and back towards the causeway)
Bog Bay
Stilton point
Gorse Bank

Are the places to be at the moment......It's pretty easy at the moment and most things are working.

I've been using a Black & Green booby on a DI-7 with a 7ft leader....it's consistant

But a goldhead tadpole (either damsel, cat's whisker or black & green) is working on a floater with crunchers, bloodworms or red holo diawls on the droppers.

Just remember to keep everything slow at this time of year..

As the weather warms up the fish at Pitsford will swith onto the buzzers big time...so black buzzers or green buzzers will be the way to go (stripped quill versions are my favourite)

As far as methods, straight lining nymphs will work from the boats especially if you are fishing slightly deeper water, from the bank the Bung will be hard to beat (flies at 3ft 6ft and 9ft) or if you prefere just 2 flies at 4ft and 8ft...

The Pines and Sailing Club will Start to fish as the weather warms; but May is often one of the best months at Pitsford so expect fish all over..

Deefer,

Are you fishing the WIGFic at Pitsford as well?

How did you get on at Fewston and Swinsty last year?

Andy

I wouln't disagree with with Rob's advice - very sound.

However, I write a blog about my fishing trips mainly on Pitsford and you might be able to get a bit more information from there. try Pitsford Fly Fishing in 2010

Good luck

I Have to admit there are people more informed than me as regards Pitsford...and up to date advice is always better !

I'm much more informed on Rutland and Grafham as i fish them both at least 1 day a week so usually know whats going on

cheers r

Deefer,

Try and manage to get there mate, it is a good event with a relaxed style in my view, really enjoyed it over the last three years that we have been going.
And you can also get a chance to fish along side some really good anglers.

Andy.

Rob,

Are there any decent B&Bs in the pitsford area to stay that you know of ?

Very informative deefer, good luck with the equal access trial if it happens, i like to think that if it does come in it will not be abused, fly fishermen on the whole are a good mannered and sensible lot. I am sure if day ticket fishermen get equal vehicular access you will see an increase in bank fishermen, which can only be a good thing for the fishery.
