Default CHEATING GIT

hi lads. well i was fishing at ladybower rez a few seasons back and there wasn't many fish rising at all when a bloke came down the bank set up and started fishing about 50 yards away when the fish started to rise around him. curios thing though as he moved up the bank a bit and the fish followed him. by this time he had had 5 fish and i was on my 4th bearing in mind id been there 3 hours before him. so i scanned the water for signs of his fortune when i saw floating pellet in the water. so i went up to him and asked what was his secret and he said there was an hatch on and he was matching the hatch with his damsel. i thort yes sure you are you cheating git. another time i spooned a fish to discover it full of maggots. how much of this goes on and what are your experiences of it?

Ive witnessed it first hand mate. Certain people lacing an area with sweetcorn the day before a comp. Guys bringing fish to a comp that they have caught the day before. There are plenty of cheats out there. Some more infamous than others.

They are only cheating themselves

My only experience of competitive fishing was at loch doon. It was an inter-house school competition, for those of us that weren't sufficiently athletic to take part in the sports day (?!) so it was quite a while ago, you'll understand. Wasn't even a posh school - scummy comprehensive if you must know - but obviously enlightened in some ways. Anyway, some wee nyaff produced a fine fish at the weigh in. It was a herring. Got away with it too, the wee ****.

Used to happen quite a lot when I fished Ladybower. I've regularly seen old members using pellets and I once saw I guy fishing the river, up above the Gusher, hammering out trout after trout in between lacing in handfuls of maggots.

His girl-friend was landing the fish and filling a black bin liner with them. I saw him catch 4, just while I was driving past, and they were there all evening!!!

I reported them to Purnell but they were there again the following couple of weeks

We've had members at Wharncliffe using bread and sweetcorn then boasting about what they've caught. I suppose we all hold differing opinions on what constitutes fly-fishing
