Default Ducks!

The local Trout lake has a good colony of ducks that dive for food.

I'm somewhat paranoid that at some point one of them is going to take a fly

Does anybody know what is the best thing to do if this ever actually happens? (I'm not after cooking suggestions btw )

Hang on, they give a cracking fight

Probably best to try and get them in and take the fly out if you are using barbed, i know that everyone says that the hooks will breakdown in a few days but i still remain highly dubious about this

Yeah, I'm a bit dubious about this too.

I don't want to see a creature in unnecessary distress and was wondering if the kindest thing isn't to pull it's neck if too deep to remove? Not sure how the local warden might view this though if it had to happen

Iv caught my fair share of ducks carp fishing with dog biscuits and yeah your right they give a good fight lol. all i can say is get it in quick and get the hook out and let it calm down then release. It should be visible if uv got your rod in hand when the fly is taken. Carnt blame um for being hungry

Do you advise gloves? Ducks being slightly better equipped to battle on land that is..

It's a duck man not an eagle, you won't need gloves.
