Default What leader?

Hi everyone,
What leader material and B/S should I buy to start out?

I am going to fish stillwaters and rivers but I think my first outing will be to a small stillwater so I really need advice on this area if you don't mind?

Should I get flourocarbon or normal mono and in what B/S should I get it in order to taper the leader?

I am using a #6 rod and line.

cheers

6lb or 8lb should do you m8 (depending on fisheries average weight) Probly best with flurocarbon. Airflow g3s good. Wouldnt bother tapering the leader, just use one fly on say a 15 foot leader.

cant go far wrong with some regular drennan sub surface
Its only £2 for 50m and has always served me well
Brown Maxima is very good and is strong and reliable and has never snapped under pressure with me
Ive never fished with flurocarbon so cant verify its performance but copolymer is another very good option but its a little dearer than the drennan and maxima
You would do better buying two spool of leader one at 6lb and 5lb
I started with this and now fish everywhere with 4lb brown maxima

I use airflow sightfree & platinum.

I also use "Jaxon ETERNUM premium" think thats what its called. This stuff is unbreakable! you can practically rip the fish out the water with this stuff, it can take fish up to 9kg and its only 0.22mm in width.

Good for a beginner as you wonk get broken off!

Its £7 for 150M so you get plenty of leader, you can buy it from dave downie @ Flyfishigworld.com
