Default Fisheries up north

All,

I may have just found myself a new job in the north east. Are there any good fisheries like in the York/Hull area? I don't know anything about the area at all yet.

Thanks

John

Dunno if I'm getting offered the job up there yet (internal job moves can be a bit weird like that), but maybe.

I was aware that the north sea was up there, but didn't realise there were any fish left in it.

Cheers. John

You don’t want to be coming up North just like that.

You will spend a small fortune on flat caps and clogs. If you try and use southern softie shoes the cobbles will ruin em.

Try breaking yourself in slowly and find a local beer that tastes of something and take it one step at a time. And you better get your whippet as soon as possible coz it’ll need to be acclimatised by shaving all its hair off and sitting in the fridge.

Practice saying “Nowt and Eye” to yourself for a while and perfect “Sorry Pal I Wasn’t Lookin at Your Bird” before even visiting.

I hope all goes well…

You will need to be able to understand such phrases as:

"Wat tha gawpin' at?" and "Eee, it's a bit parky lad!" and if you are seen showing signs of not being able to take the cold by wearing a ganzie. " Eyup lad a tha nesh?"

Oh - "ganzie" is a woollen cardy, although these days it won't be made from wool, will be made from polyester from Primark.

Just try to ignore the references to whippets, flat caps and clogs also most people around where I live speak quite well. I fish between York and the east coast and there is plenty of fine river and stillwater fishing at sensible cost. Take the job and enter gods country you will not regret it...
