Hi, i'm looking at getting a pair of polarised sunglasses and was wondering what the best colour lens is. I see that you can get them in brown, yellow and grey. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you can afford them, Costa Del Mar are great sunglasses. I have the Man o' War with the grey lens which is a good all round lens.

The colour lens you choose will depend on the type of fishing you are doing.

Take a look at this link, it explains a little more about what the different colours will do for you.

Thanks James, that's useful. I have a pair of Oakley Half Jackets for golf with the golf specific lens. The lenses are interchangeable and am looking to just get a polarised lens. There is a grey polarised lens available and it seems this is a good all round lens colour.

Colour won't be bad .

If saltwatering in hot climates you'll likely need the absolute best colour for exactly where you are going and it is best to ask whoever is going to guide you exactly what that is - there's less than no point in turning up with expensive sunglasses in the wrong tint(s) !

If you are however intending to use these for british Boatfishing/Floattubing - stick with your ordinary golfing Oakleys - polarised don't stop direct or reflected direct sunlight and that is exactly what gives you retinal burns and headaches . But ordinary sunglasses do !

If you have no need to see acutely into the water you don't need and likely shouldn't wear polarised glasses !

Hi Graz, Oakley do a Fishing Specific lens for the Half Jacket, I'm just about to buy a pair, you should be able to by just the lenses, they come in either Shallow Blue for shallow water or deep blue for deep water.

Oakley Polarized HALF JACKET XLJ Fishing Sunglasses available online at Oakley.com

cheers
Steve

Thanks all. I do need them for fish spotting as I fish small clear stillwaters and small rivers. I'll check out the new Shallow Blue lens

I've been told many times the best all round colour is brown/amber.

I posted a thread a while back about sunglasses and recieved some good advice but I've yet to find a pair which I like, I can find in a shop to try on, fit comfortably (the Oakleys were really uncomfortable) and work well.

Steve this information is not entirely correct perhaps you need to read up a little more on the different makes of polarised lens that are on the Market now.

To be honest the best and most comfortable polorising sunglasses I have had have been from Next, and only 15 quid.
