Question Ok, Ok, the US huddled masses want to know. The 'Trebuche' spey rod rotating add.

Sorry if I got the spelling wrong above, but did a 'cut and paste' of their web site to a couple of US based fishing boards (both VERY large in readership/posters) asking 'what do you think?'

Collectively, the answer was a 'say what?' As in 'what does/did this add to the Party?' Had to agree, zero clue if weighting the bottom of the butt section of the cork would add .. to what?

That said, what the hell do I know?

Anyone whose a 2-hander fluff chucker used one of these rods and can add to 'what it adds?'

No kidding, a real question as 'us' 'Merkins' spend money on equipment like water flowing under a bridge ... if a new rod brings something to the table.

Thoughts?

Fred

Have no experience of using such a rod Fred, but the man himself explains concept and benefits here:

Nothing new in this idea Years ago some Salmon anglers added weight to the butts of their rods. The merits or otherwise are well documented. Fishing with a heavier reel would no doubt give the same effect as adding weights.
It's hoses for courses I feel. Some would say a gimmick, I can see why and I doubt it will catch on to any great effect.

The Loop Opti Power Spey does the same thing via an extended reel seat with both uplocking and downlocking screws, so you can move your reel up and down the reel seat. It won the recent T&S 15fter review tested by people with no ties to the company, and the effect of the reel seat was certainly a big point...

Have yet to try one though...
