Default whats working best

hi all i am new on this forum and just wandered what fly patterns are working for most of you and what depths and type of retrieves you are doing?
i am asking as i went to my local haunt were i normally do excepetonly well barnsfold fly fishery in goosenargh troffard bowlands area but this time i drew a blank and there were not many fish being pulled out any were else on the lake.

im guessing this is a still water venue??? my local still water... the old okey dokey on the drop was taking rainbows, also vivas were doing ok.

It's been tough going on our local 7½ acre, C&R reservoir just north of Sheffield and it hasn't been completely ice-free since mid-December.

Fishing a damsel or black woolly bu99er deep (around 10ft) on an intermediate and using a slow figure-of-eight retrieve has been just as productive, if not more so, than the "eggs/bungs" fished by the float-fishermen.

There has been spasmodic rises to hatches of "minute" black flies, buzzers I guess, barely 3mm long!

Tough going at Coyle today as well. Fish were staying well down. I caught 4 myself but it was hard going. We had 1 guy managed 8 and I think he was mainly using damsels on a floating line
