Hi.

I have quite a few friends over your way and they seem to either come over here to the Severn, Dee or up to Derbyshire.

If you have a bike you could have a great day out, fantastic ride/roads in walse and some great fishing and have no hassle going home with the traffic

Hi I cant help you with the fishing but i fished miles from home travelling on a bike through choice. The riding gear is much better now so the clothing can double up. The great thing about going on a bike is that you have a win win situation , the pleasure of 2 blasts on a bike and then the added pleasure of some fly fishing . Heaven perhaps i will have to do it this summer again. Brings back memories Yamaha RD 400 , Moto Guzzi Le Mans, Rickman Trident & Laverda Jota ,Bedford to the Cotswolds and back and Trout fishing thrown in.

I'd say shropshire and staffordshire are where you want to be heading. Market drayton is meant to be good river trouting, wales probably isn't a bad bet but a bit further. There's a road i go down on holiday that goes up to dolgellau i think, nice twisty mountain road and a gorgeous stream running along it. Try ludlow too, there's some good fishing for grayling and trout up there, too.

Hi there, first of all your standard licence will cover you for normal river trouting, you only need to upgrade if you fish for Salmon or Seatrout.
Best advice i can give you is phone the Wye and Usk foundation on 01982551520 and ask them to send you there passport booklet.
They are on the net too The Wye and Usk Foundation.
They have some great water on day ticket, the Arrow and Lugg are i guess the nearest to you, around Leominster both great rivers.
tight lines

Steve

Some great advice on this thread already for you Lenton... I'll pitch in a bit of support Dr Fly's Gamefishers Club suggestion. They ahve a great little portfolio of water right the length of The Marches.

I am based on the Herefordshire border, and there is some smashing river fishing to be had on the Monnow system - accessible through the GFC, but mostly through the WUF passport scheme. For you.... M5, M50 in 45/50 minutes, another 30 mins on top of that and you're in trout heaven.
Best
Dave
