not sure about eyebrooke but rutland is a huge water
if you are going there i would suggest that you would be better hiring a guide
or if this is too expensive maybe post on the forum to see if you could share a boat with someone who has experience of the water

they seem to be a nice bunch on here pretty sure someone take you out

its also cheaper if you split costs and a good way to meet new people/friends

Welcome to the forum
forgive me mate if you are a newbie but rutland is a bit big you might be biting of a bit more than you can chew! depends where you are and in all sincerity I would team up with someone and take on somewhere a bit smaller like carsington...someone local will put you right.Ressies can be scary places when the wind gets up and if you are a little inexperienced! unless of course you are walking the bank in which case............just say .....thanks foos..........

Are you local to the area? Do you want to fish boat or bank?

If you can get to Rutland easily, the Tuesday night boat league will be starting in May. Its a good way to learn about the water.

Hi,
appreciate you are looking for advice on Eyebrooke, but as I've been there twice and caught a grand total of 2 fish, all I can tell you is it's a great place to visit. Friendly staff, lovely water, ospreys if you are lucky but as far as catching fish goes, I'm in the dark but as with all the big ressies, tactics change from week to week so a call to the lodge will help.
A less difficult water, not a million miles away is Ravensthorpe or perhaps Elinor. Especially Elinor where you get friendly good advice on a not too daunting water.
Sorry can't be more helpful, but hope this comes in useful,
Del.

Default both are excellent waters

Having fished both for a number of years...

but the following is worth considering.......both will fish well from the bank untill the end of June.....then unless you fish early morning (first light) or dusk (last light) then a boat will be better untill the end of October....

Eyebrook is smaller, although still a reasonably big water, and the stock fish range from 1.5lb - 15lb.

Rutland's stock fish range from 1.5lb - 3 lb

Eyebrook is probably a more consistant top of the water reservoir than Rutland through out the season....

Rutland has much more bank space available.....although Eyebrook has no sailing boats and picnic's going on all round the water (like Rutland which is like a circus in the summer)

If you get a cheap season ticket for Rutland you can also fish Ravensthorpe, Graham and Pitsford on the same ticket.

Eyebrook is just a single fishery...but is definatly quieter.

Quality of fish and stocking density in both is excellent.....and i'm sure Eyebrook has a higher stocking density (fish per acre) than Rutland which can make the fishing slightly easier..

Anyway...your choice now !
