Default River Fishing Sheffield

Myself and a friend are going to be on a day off in Sheffield on the 8th March and really want to do some river fishing, preferably on the Don in the city.
Can anybody help with information on day tickets etc?

Cheers

Andy

Look at the thread in the trout and grayling fishing about the "Urban Don" there's some advice on where to fish in sheffield. Some really nice pics of grayling too.
I think by the look of the river on the pics, they are at the back of the sheffield wednesday ground. I also think it's free fishing too.

You'll just about catch the end of the grayling season there but please move along a little bit if you start hitting brownies until you find the grayling again.

The section that SPRITE (the local chapter of Trout in the Town) looks after runs from Hillfoot bridge (below Mecca Bingo on the A61 (Penistone Road) up to Niagara weir. Sprite

Perhaps in lieu of day tickets you might consider a fivers' worth of raffle tickets each? This will help the guys carry on with their litter cleanups, educational and youth coaching activities as well as monitoring the health of the river and campaigning on its behalf.

SPRITE itself is free to join and there is no charge for fishing (contact has been made with the many and varied riparian landowners and the "OK" sought for permission to carry out trash clear ups/some fishing access on the river bank)

PM me for further details or email me on my work address pgaskell@wildtrout.org

If you join up, there might be a member who would be available to fish alongside on that date (no guarantees obviously!).

The Don through Sheffield is all free fishing.... Obviously an EA rod license is required.

Yes, but as Paul suggested, it would be nice if people who visited would help and join SPRITE.... a group of likeminded anglers trying desperately to keep this area rubbish free and accessable for other anglers and people to enjoy..
