I remember I went to Cameron with my club for a Sunday session and when we got there it was bright green with algae. The weed can be a problem in the summer months but it used to have some cracking brownies in it. I don't know how it has faired since rainbows were introduced, but normally this can spoil the brown trout fishing.

Superb sport for half a season, as said weed a major problem an the weed time is creeping forward every year. Better off gettin a few day tickets throughout season and see for yourself, £270ish quid is a lot for half a season(in comparison to other waters)

Default Cameron res

Iv,e fished Cameron a good few times and it does get weedy in the summer and does sometimes get an algae bloom now and then but so does alot of waters of similar size. The one strange rule that they have got is on electric outboards, you can only use up to 35lbs thrust, which i thought was strange. Still got some good browns and the rainbows are pretty good as well.

Regards

Graeme.

You may or may not have heard of Clatto Loch, a brown trout only venue in a natural setting.

I'm sure a club offers memberships. Only one boat last time i fished but bank fishing was available. Had some good, algae free, evening sessions there.

See below Cameron

Hi c_weed

I fish Cameron Reservoir throughout the season. Granted it usually fishes best March - June when some real crackers are landed. It can weed over depending on the weather and the water levels but if this happens other fisheries are normally likewise affected. Last year the water levels came up in July thanks to the wet summer. As a result the loch fished well for me right up to the end of the season.

I hear that the St Andrews Angling Club are in the final stages of purchasing the reservoir from Scottish Water not sure if memberships may be limited when this happens.

Dave
