Default River Lyon information please........

Not sure if this is the right spot to post this but here goes.

I am organising a trip for my dad (birthday present) for May. I do it every year and last year we had a day on the Tay.
This year i am trying to get information on the River Lyon. He loves his trout fishing on rivers so its mainly trout info im after.

How many beats is the river split into?
Where do you purchase trout permits?
Price?
How highly regarded is the fishing?
Hill lochs in the area?

I love my salmon fishing so if a certain part can offer both then thats even better! lol

The reason i choose this area is because i have access to accomodation in Killin. Any other hidden gems in the area or suggestions would be greatly received.

Thanks
Paul

try these

Angling in Tayside

wonderful Glen full of trout (and a few salmon) - magic

Don't also disregard the brilliant trout on the Tay - tickets available through PO at Kenmore - bargain of any season.

have fun

Thanks for the link mate. Just what i was looking for.

There seems to be loads of accessible water. Are there any that stand out as the best bet?

Thanks

Hi Paul, used to fish the Fortingall beat for trout - this was several years ago - real good bit of water and plenty of Broonies - dont know if you can still get permits though - try enquiring at the Fortingal Hotel.
Good Luck, Paul
