Aye just to get them all going again don't go down that method. This reply will get the bobbers going as usual. Just use a floating line and pay attention to the end of it

Agreed.

If you wanna use a float, try bait fishing

If he wants to use a bite indicator then who the hell are you to be judgemental ??

i personally find them invaluble for river nymphing, casting 30 feet upstream in broken water you can watch all you want but you are gonna ms many really very subtle takes... it is only a floatr if the nymph is suspended underneath it... i uae them with 2x the depth of water i am fishing between the nymph and the pimp maybe more in fast water it is simply a visual aid...

whats the difference berween using a pimp ot greasing up a hi vis minicon and watching that ????

Use them if you're happy using them, don't if you're not. Both are opinions and both have their merits, but please lets not have a thread attempting to convince one side or the other they're wrong to have their preferences.

I find indicators a big help ,there was a time before I needed bifocals that i could see takes on greased leaders at distance ,sadly those days are gone .
its not all bad ,a whisp of pink nylon type wool now does the job for me .
my son whose eyesight is in constant change re his prescription needs a stick on bigger indicator , in fact I may get him some pimps for next season .
Like Martin (Icky Pimp) mine are not used to suspend the bug on rivers .
Resser fishing thats a different matter all together ,there I will use a small bung , Palsa brand ones from Fly fish usa ,or a bigger wad of the pink fluff! This with busser type pattern when the fish are deep.

Andy, after having the pleasure of spending a few hours with you on the river, I can confidently say there is little wrong with your eyes!

I know my eyesight is perfect and I could spot a flock of 'sterretjies' harrasing sprats from a mile away..............but I couldn't spot a trout or grayling holding station like you could.

You pretty much had to shove the end of your rod up a trouts nostril before I could see it.

Nope, nowt wrong with your hawk eyes

Ben
