Default Guided fishing on Rutland

I was thinking of getting my brother-in-law a days guided fishing on Rutland for his 60th birthday. We have both fished for years on smaller waters and rivers, but really struggle in these larger waters. What is the general view out there? Is this money well spent and , if so, does anyone have a good contact? thanks

mjg

Hi mjg
I fully agree with the above post. Rob is a cracking guy and you will learn a huge amount from him. I would also recommend Al Owen, also a member on this forum.
Cheers
Paul

Now I cannot wait for Jun. I have contacted Rob Edmunds and he has already been very helpful with a good programme (including accommodation) and is suggesting where we might find some big over wintered rainbows.

Thanks guys.

That would be Dave Doherty !

If interested I have been running a ' you pay exes and I'll show you ruddering operation ' at Pitsford or Draycote do in cahoots with TFF - largely because I got miffed at the numbers of seriously inappropriate ways in which folks were failing to catch on easy enough days if you knew what you were doing . Having written the book in '82 and many many articles over the years I concluded that the only real way was to physically show folks and I did about 8 last year and they all caught fish and we had a fair bit of fun .

It isn't guiding but I am teaching rudder technique .

Also I am 62 next - me , my kids bought me a week at Northampton University for my 60th to learn the Blues Harp ( as I was getting altogether too close to the Angels - the swine ! ) and I had such a fine time I've taken to going back annually . It is so charming - being offered gigantic cigarettes at 3 am jam sessions by nice young blues players - and at 4am having to organise teams of folks to put them to bed ! )

This year due to Severn Trent it'll be at Rutland and I shall likely be concentrating at Zander ( just for the interest of it . )

PM me if in any way appropriate ( and he could come to Bluesweek too ! )

Best wishes

Steve P

I must say I have no interest in that ruddering lark But hey everyman to his own thing. If someone gets enjoyment out of that great.
