Default It's not where im fishing!!!

I went fishing today, had a good day. 14 fish, including one just short of double figures. 10 more than any one else.

The fish were fairly spread out, especially along one of the banks. Now this isn't the worst case i've seen, but it always gets me going. Why is it that when you start catching, people think it's because of the spot you're in, not what you're doing? I was on a sinker retrieveing quickly across the bottom, most other people were on floaters slowly retrieving... duh!!! There's a bl00dy queue forming to get in my spot!

My wench came back from shopping and decided she wanted a go and even caught 2, including this nice 6lber.

Am i just miserable, or can people not see that they're clearly doing the wrong thing?
I moved to a different spot where other people had blanked and continued to catch, whilst others fished 'my' peg and carried on blanking.

How do you react to this? When people come up to chat and are polite and ask for tips, i genereally chop off my flies for them and leave them to the spot, or even give them my rod and ****** off for a cup of tea!
When they just bound in and start splashing around over my line where i'm fishing i'm not so friendly. I do try and help others, especially when i've had a few myself, but rudeness and ignorance just get right on my ...

I remember once catching a few fish from a fishery on tiny buzzers and spiders on the drift.
After about 8 fish the nearest guy to me ambles over to ask what i was using. I had just unhooked a fish and still had the flies in my hand. I showed them to him and, I kid you not! he said I was a ****king arehole for not showing him the flies I had caught on as nobody would catch fish on those flies
To say I was gobsmaked didnt cut it.
I was so shocked I forgot to smack him one in the kisser.

You've still both got a way to go to catch up Blobby's 68 though

I'll admit I've rarely found it necessary to resort to a sinker at that venue, but I have noticed that if you're not catching you do have to ring the changes til you find a winning formula. Also, it could just be that takes were quite subtle so if fishing a floater and slow retrieve, ie a big curve between line and fly, its easier to miss them or not even notice them at all, whereas a sinker and fast retrieve will hit fish more directly. So it could have been the people not catching were actually getting more takes than they realised.

I wish Chris! nope - working I'm afraid. You mentioned in another thread that you were going there today though and the bit of bank in the photo seems to confirm it. Well done, sounds like good fishing, they're quality in there too Any of those lovely browns?

No mate. The only one i've seen for ages is a littl'un of about a pound, which i caught in the exact same spot as in the photo, when the lakes were 80% frozen. Apparantly it's the only one that's been caught there for ages too. Year before last there were quite a few visible in the margins, some cracking ones near enough double figures, but these seem to have gone walkies, or swimmies! Don't know what's happened to them.

Are you fishing sunday?

I doubt it Chris, got quite a lot on over weekends too at the moment, and I've actually been doing more coarse fishing over the last year (rivers) when I can get out. Haven't fished there since last summer in fact and haven't had a brown myself for a while - perhaps they're not putting so many in. I remember first time I went there I had a dozen or so fish including a 5lb brownie and an 11lb 'bow, all mint condition - came away very impressed as you can imagine! Are you there sunday then? maybe if I can escape....
