Question Fishing Emerger Patterns

Just a couple of questions on fishing with emerger patters.Any help or tips would be great.
1.Should they be fished wet or dry.i.e. do they need a touch of floatant?
2.If fishing with a team of wet flies can the emerger be used on the top dropper?
All info and tips or tactics would be greatly recieved.
C.K.

What makes my fishing more interesting is doing the opposite of what people tell me and enjoy finding out for myself...that way i know how things work for myself.

Good fun finding out.

Usually use a bit of floatant on mine.Fish top dropper with one or two nymphs below but can use one on point like a booby with buzzers on droppers.Dave.

I take it that emergers are emerging therefore fished in the surface film, my favourites being CDC versions that I apply a little "frogs fanny" floatant to. As emergers normally would not be retrieved at any great speed if at all. I personally would not fish them along side wets.

Emergers.......used for imitating emerging insects i.e in the process of breaking out of its shuck and into the air.....No pulling ,movement or boobies required, though the tiniest twitch can be a good minor tactic on its day.
Try patterns which will give you a nice half in and half out profile, such as klinkhammers, raiders ,shuttlecocks etc. Gink the thorax and let the body of the fly sit down in the water....
