they're ok. it's easier and cheaper to make them out of washing up bowls. mind you do get some funny looks

I got one. God knows why, it always seemed more bother than it was worth. The only real use I can think of is if you fish where your line would trail in sandy soil or grit which could be caught up in the line and therefore into the reel.

Decidedly gay. However, yes they work, and can save you lots of tears, tangles on rocks/grass/roots etc and extend the life of your line a fair bit too.

I was thinking of getting one.
Every time I seem to be on for a great accurate cast, my line finds the only bit of stumpy grass in a 10 yard radius, gets caught, and bu88ers my cast up!

I have one and always take it with me when bank fishing. I use it depending on where I'm standing at the time, if it's not needed I just put it behind me. When needed they are fine and save a bit of bother but you still get the occasional spoiled cast.

Hi I use a William Joseph stripping belt, a mesh bag where the top band pushs into the belt, its great for bank work as all the coils drop straight into the net bag, you can collapse this when you want to move spots this keeps all your fly line safe from snags and tangles.

You could also try the Orvis stripping basket (bowl) better suited for salt water use.

Here's one i made earlyer. Bought the washing up bowl at B&Q £3.49 i've put nozzles from silicone tubes in mine some people put cable ties in the bottom but i prefer the tubes...

All i done was put a 2.5in screw in the bottom of the bowl. Fill the nozzle with hotmelt glue and place it over the screw. I also put a dollop of hotmelt over the head of the screw job done this is 2 years old and used on average 6 times a week....

This took me about an hour so why pay £30 for an orvis line tray & the ones that fold up are **** IMO.......
