Question Rod and line performance in cold weather

Fished Chatton today part fishable thanks to the aerator and a great performance by an ice breaking boat - had two super fit fish.
BUT my floater on a Scott E2 fished as normal whilst an intermediate on a Bloke XL50 was a nightmare and virtually uncastable - not had this in the past with this set up, is it all down to very cold temperatures 0 deg to 3 deg or all my bad habits coming home to haunt me?

Hi absentee.
I was wondering the same thing and started a thread. Some interesting answers and thoughts.
Any way have a look here.
Does the cold affect rod action / line characteristics?
Hope this helps.

0-3 C isn't even cold, much less "very cold". As everyone knows, "cold" doesn't begin until at least -15 C. Certainly no temprature above the freezing point of water could be described as "cold".

Point taken but as a supporter of a much ridiculed North East football team I found my T shirt and shorts quite adequate
