Default Prince Albert Angling Club

We( Wife also fishes) have been quite fortunate and offered a place for 2010.
I appreciate members are not allowed to discuss waters but before I finally decide I would appreciate any guidance on quality of waters, particularly in the Cheshire and North/Mid Wales.
A couple of members who I have spoken to were not to thrilled, but they had not fished many waters.
Any replies or pm's appreciated.
Its not an easy decision because for two people for the first year it comes to £360,so it needs to be right.

I appreciate the secrecy shad. The prince albert club is something most people don't feel that comfortable talking about openly so well done mate... If this is your first time in the club, I would recommend a simple design as anything too fancy and you'll find it will lead to chaffing in your waders whilst upstream nymphing. Personally this is my favourite design and it fits comfortably down the leg of my neopreanes.

Good luck.

I was just about to write something similar when I saw the thread title.

Is this like a secret handshake or is it that I am just thick. Will you be shot at dawn if you divulge.

It's a good thing my grandfather is not alive or he would have been round your house knocking lumps out of you just for saying Prince Albert!!

He owned a 3/4 mile stretch of the river Dulas (a tributory of the famous River Dyfi) in Mid Wales. He was offered thousands of pounds for it back in the late 60's/early 70's by the Prince Albert Club who owned the stretch below. My Taid fought them off to keep his stretch for the local kids to fish. I'm proud to say that my father has carried on with the "tradition" and still to this day he gets the odd enquiry from Prince Albert members asking if they can come upstream and fish his stretch.

My Taid would have said NO. His opinion would have been: if you let the local Kids fish your stretch then you can fish mine. All you need is a Rod Licence for his stretch but how many kids can afford Prince Albert prices.

My little girl has already caught her first Brownie on the same stretch and I'd like to think that in the future her kids will do the same.

Sorry my ramblings don't answer your question and I don't mean to cause any offence to Prince Albert members but this thread just brought back a few memories.

BTW it's got a great deep pool and a fantastic weir with a few "pot holes". My best fish from the stretch is a 9lb 7oz Sea Trout caught on a worm when I was 15 years old.

Cheers

FJ

you and Alan could do with googling "prince albert" perhaps in conjunction with the word 'piercing' and all will become clear, heh heh.

In reply to thread, the society has lots of good river fishing, not so much in the way of stillwaters I am led to believe.

Cheers

Ian
