Default Fishing oliday advice needed

Briefly, I've talked the wife into a week away in July again. I want to fish (a big or bigish boat water) and yet stay somewhere where she can shop / do things while I fish......you get the idea . Last year I did the Dales and Stocks reservoir which wasn't bad. Any suggestions chaps?? I will be travelling over from Ireland the week of the 12th July and would have considered Dreycote, but that's out now for obvious reasons. Your advice is much appreciated !!

How about a trip to Edinburgh or Glasgow. Plenty shopping and loads of good boat venues within an hours drive from either city.

It's certainly in the top few but you'd probably struggle to get on it at the weekend. Plenty other to choose from like Linlithgow, Leven, Carron Valley etc

Default fishing holiday afloat!

You could'nt do better than Llyn Brennig £50 per day for a boat for two in one of the top spots in Wales, thats value for money and there is a very big choice of other venues as well within a half hour of there.
Shopping for the wife, where better than Chester!!!.
Llandudno is also very good but not in the same league as Chester, but it can be very cheap for b&b, you have just got to shop around the hotels.
Look up fishing in N. Wales, that will surely convince you and you could enter Wales via Holyhead and theres also plenty of fishing on Anglesey.
Phil.

Once Carsington is up and running try the Derbyshire Peak District.

Large shopping venues abound, Meadowhall (Sheffield); Nottingham, Derby, Trafford Centre (Mnachester); Birmingham all within 45 minutes.

The fishing is also excellent (or has been through the years).

Not seen any mention of Ladybower. Stay in the Hope Valley. Plenty of shopping within 45 mins (Meadowhall about 30)
Boat fishing on Ladybower and 'Wild Brownies' on Derwent and Howden
