Default What would you give for a day on the Lathkill?

A wild brown trout in the famous astonishingly clear waters of the river Lathkill -showing characteristic flanks of what Izaak Walton memorably stated to be "The reddest trouts" anywhere.

There is a day for one rod to stalk these fish with a dry fly up for grabs for as little as a £5 book of raffle tickets (on Lord Edward Manners' private beat no less - and not the club water). I posted this separately to the news of Sage's generous support because I just couldn't believe that there were only 3 members of the forum who would appreciate the chance of bagging this prize (if not the rod!!!!)...

Please email me on pgaskell@wildtrout.org
(NOTE WELL THAT THERE IS NO "DOT" BETWEEN "P" and "GASKELL" IN THE EMAIL ADDRESS) and I will send you the address to post cheques to for tickets.

Please also note that I am moving house at the end of this month - therefore don't delay posting stuff (as the time gets closer I will update the address to which you will be directed...).
The raffle is in support of my most local "Trout in the Town" project - SPRITE
Sprite

The draw will be made in early March so don't kick yourself when "too late, too late!" was the cry.

Wonderful water... wonderful fish. Count me in.

Thanks for the bout of email responses to this thread - SPRITE will benefit hugely from your support and be able to continue their work looking after the urban river Don.

Paul, despite my curious fascination with gritty urban rivers, even I'm not about to pass up a chance to fish the lovely Lathkill - there's a cheque in the post

Marmalade, SPRITE's website is here: Sprite

... and here's a report on one of their recent cleanup operations on the Don: Fly tippers be warned

Well worth supporting I reckon... again.

Would this be lower down or higher up than say of Warren's place?

No matter I've decided to have £40 worth of books anaway (to share with friends).

It is the sections of the Haddon estate that Warren manages on behalf of Lord Edward for himself and private guests (rather than the syndicated water on the same estate also managed by Warren).

Do you need address details for sending a cheque for tickets or have I already supplied via email? (linking forum-names to email-names isn't always easy! )

Details from me on pgaskell@wildtrout.org at any rate.
