Default fly line split

Hi
I was looking at a relatively new line the other day and it has split just above the leader loop connector.

Is this my poor casting or something to do with the stiffness of the super glued connecter against the line?

Is this common?

Cheers

Although easily rectified by simply fitting a new braided loop, it is still not the most efficient method.

I would personally recommend either of the following three methods:
1. Dispense with the plastic sleeve, fit the braided loop as normal and whip it in place using tying silk and a tiny tiny drop of superglue to coat the whipping.
2. Using nail varnish remover, strip off the first inch of coating from the tip of the line, revealing the braided core, form a loop with the bare core and whip it in place again using tying silk, again coating the whipping with a tiny amount of superglue.
3. Nail or needle knot six to twelve inches of 15 to 20lb mono (depending on line weight) to the tip of the line and form a perfection loop in the mono to attach your leader.

Default Tiday Loop

You can use nail varnish to remove the 1st 2 inches and use a needle threader to make a loop in the braided core. Just treat the core the same as braided loop. I can,t credit the person that showed me i can,t remember his name ? I use aquasure to finish it due to it,s flexability superglue goes rock hard

I`ve been using heat shrink tube, instead of plastic sleeves, with just the tiniest dab of superglue on the ends. IMO it`s a much better finish. Peter

Again heat shrink also goes to ridged imho.

Sorry but this is not a good example, and the flyline will split behind the sleeve very quickly.not recommended.

Jim the tubing is very flexable i can,t say what will happen in future but i,ve used the line for 2 years and ther,s no sign of any cracking yet. you may think it looks big in the photo, it,s only a touch over 2 cm long. check how thick the core looks.

I have no Idea how often you fish, but if you fish as often as me,any tubing is a problem, and will cause hinging, leading to a split,my method of fixture by whipping still ,eventually causes spliting.but put silicon/plastic sleeve into the loop ,(and glue it) not good.IMHO
