Yes, a very good clip and certainly it debunks the two biggest myths about waders, that they will fill with air and turn you upside down and that they will fill with water and pull you under.

Obviously, it is always a good idea to wear a wading belt and a PFD. It is also a good idea to know how to help an angler who has fallen overboard.

Very interesting.

However, just to give you an idea of what can happen when everything goes wrong, let me tell you about an incident which I witnessed a few years ago concerning a coarse fisherman fishing in Hartebeespoort Dam in South Africa. The guy was fishing from a boat, wearing waders - the old fashioned, baggy, PVC type, no wading belt and no flotation device. He was standing up in the boat when he tripped and fell overboard head first. This chap floated alright, but it was upside down! I am not sure if he would have made it without help, but fortunately he had two mates in the boat who pulled him out.

Never say never!

The lesson is obvious - wader belt and flotation device makes you pretty safe, but still not a good idea to stand up in a small boat - although, I have to admit that I do!

A lovely clip - perhaps not conclusive but definetly food for thought.

Thanks for sharing

I think that panic is a major contributory factor to drownings.

The thing best demonstrated by that video is just what a good tool a modern sit-on-top can be from a self-rescue point of view.

You'll not see many try that from a rowing boat.
