Default Mariner Outboard Maintenance Guru Required

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 4hp 2 stroke Mariner outboard. It runs OK and pumps water well but was previously use in the sea so I would like to give it a good service before the start of the season.
Was just wondering if anybody new where I could get/download a maintenance/workshop manual for it. Also if anybody knows what fuel/oil mix it should run on?
Any advice most welcome and appreciated.

Cheers

Rob.

If you are having to ask for a manual for it I would suggest you take it to someone to have a service done on it . Reason being it has to be right from a safety point of view . The last thing you want is the engine to fail while you are out or if it turns iffy out there
Mine had 170 days use last year and is going in for a service on monday even though I know what to do to it , just to be sure.
Mix is 1:100 for that engine .

Yes mate but only a little , there is a big difference between 50:1 and 100:1 . Run it that rich and it will smoke like **** and soot up the plugs really fast , especially if running at low speeds ,trust me I know

I think I will be alright on a two stroke 4 hp O/B its just for the correct info on gearbox oil and torque loadings etc. At the end of the day I trust myself more than some one I don't know.

The other link is no good either thanks Sean. I was looking at that website earlier there is nothing specific

Liam .....

Click the image to open in full size.

First off we AINT talking big engines are we , read up and see
Second are you saying the people that make the engine don't know and have it wrong ??
It will not get burned off as I have tried , it will for a little while but soon builds up to a point the engine cuts out or will not even start .
Why do something the wrong way and cause issue at some point in the future ????
