As to the decal Grouse it has long since gone opaque and blank by looks of things.
Can we forget the whole fuel/oil thing and get on to the copy of a manual which I was kind of more interested in.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of one?

Cheers

Rob
Rob, i got one from this web site, Seloc Marine Home Page
My book covers all 2.5-275hp 1-6 cylinder, 2-stroke models. you just need the year of your motor to get the right book.
They are highly recommended books and a lot less than the mercury manual.

Default Clymer-OMC manual

This from the johnson/evinrude manual

Recomended fuel mixture
NOTE
OMC issued a bulletin in Sept 88 recommending a 50-1 fuel .oil mix be used in all recreational O/B motors, which were previously recommended for a 100-1 mix, when the motors are only used periodically or if the motor is used at a constant high RPM. a 100-1 mix may be used if the engine is completly run in,and if the motor is used frequently ,But not at constant high RPM.

I thought this interesting

Jim

Default Seagull O/B

When I bought my silver century seagull it was a 10-1 mix this was very expensive to run and a bit smoky.I bought the 25-1 conversion kit.
This consisted of a new main jet. it has run on this full throttle for the last 10 years with no ill effects.

Thank you so much for that. It looks just what I'm after and good to know it comes recommended.

Thanks

Rob another source is Ebay. You will get a manual for your motor in PDF form on a CD for about £5.00 on there.

Incidently Yamaha made the Mariner 4hp 2 strokes for Mariner. Mariner just badged them. My 4hp Yamaha/Mariner runs on 100-1.

If in doubt post the motor number.

David.

BP

You need to find out if your mariner is a mercury or a yamaha. Then you can fiigure out if it is 100:1 or 50:1.

Hey guys, I was just looking on eBay and I found 4 HP Mariner Outboard listed, selling for dirt cheap.

It's listed by some BlackPennell guy over in the UK. That's an incredible coincidence, I mean it couldn't be the same Black Pennell that started this thread? Right BP? BP? You still there?
