Default Grayling

I've just spent an hour watching a fish in the river not more than 100 yards from my house, I got to within 20 feet of it and noticed it was a good sized grayling and if it wasn't 2lb, it wouldn't be a kick in the @rse off. I didn't see any more and was amazed at where it is, there must be 20 or more ducks in this stretch of river causing a right commotion which didn't seem to bother the fish at all. Nice to see.

I wasn't fishing, just watching it.......could that be classed as voyeurism?

To be fair to Buzz, in an hour you could have gone home, tied up some pink bugs, got your tackle, put your waders on and still had forty minutes trying to catch it.

They say time spent on reconnoissance is never wasted but this is a fly-fishing forum, not a fish watching forum!

The thing is, our local club season doesn't start until 22nd March and with grayling being out of season until mid June, this fish is safe for the foreseeable future, I hope.
