Default Advice on where to fish in lincolnshire

I have recently moved to lincolnshire and would like to find as much info about local trout fisheries, I am not after sholder to sholder fishing I like open natural places. So far this year I have found Withern Mill which ticks all the right boxes for me. Please can anyone help with other locations as good?

Have a look at this map:-

Map of UK fly fishing venues

Just zoom out and more flags will show up in the area. It comes up from the Fly Fishing Venues website at

Fly fishing venues in the UK - Over 600 places to go fly fishing in the UK

Best of luck

You don't say where you live in Lincolnshire, or how far you are prepared to travel, I can recommend This place but it is very quiet and out of the way, most of the time one has the lake to ones' self.
Have a look, see what you think:-

Lincolnshire Wolds - holiday cottage, 4 star luxury self-catering in Lincolnshire - Masondale Cottage and Still water fly fishing for trout in Lincolnshire - Otby Lake Fishing - set in an area of outstanding natural beauty..

Default lincolnshire trout fishing

thorpe vale near to ludford has two very nice lakes in a lovely setting, very well stocked. otby near market rasen is also nice. iif you fancy a go on the reservoirs you have got toft newton which is very well known. for peace and quiet and quality fish you would be hard pressed to beat thorpe vale.

Yes Thorpe Vale is very nice and George Wildsmith is a great guy I've known him for many years, it does get a bit overcrowded at times, especially at week ends,
Have a drive over and see what you think.
It would help if members could say where they live when asking questions such as this, I can drive over to Thorpe for the evening rise, Lincolnshire isn't very large, unless, of course, you are walking.

Personally speaking I like Toft Newton for quality of fishing.
Everyone moans about fishing a concrete bowl and lack of scenery but Jason Foster does a tremendous job there providng quality fishing all year round with some fantastic surface action at times.
There are times when you don't have a chance to look around the scenery because there are fish moving everywhere.
Highly recommended. The only reason I don't fish there as often is the distance I've got to travel and the quality of fishing within 10 minutes from my front door, but I like to have a few days there in any event.

Hi Iain,
I'm surprised you travel to Toft, you have some wonderful fishing on your doorstep, the Wye, Derwent, just for starters, I make the 240 mile round trip to fish in your territory, I love to fish in a nice enviroment, toft is a good place to fish, that is what it is for, true, and only 15 mile from me, but it's the wild life, atmosphere and surrounding views that interest me, probably more so than the actual fishing , you lucky blighter, Cheers...
