Default So ive bought the reel

And im about to put the line on, I bought a Greys GRXi reel with 3 spare spools, now with my old reels the spool was not interchangeable and there were holes in it to tie the leader of the fly line into, with the grxi spool there are no holes in the actual base of the spool, can i just lay the leader down and wind it on, or should i stick the leader down with a bit of tape?

If you mean the backing, just tie it round the spool and wind on.
See the knots section on the forum for how to knot it on.

Oh no you're not…
We're here to help you!

PS: if it's your first outing I'd just take the floater, not worry about changing spools etc, and book a casting lesson as part of the day

thanks for the support gentlemen, i did have the help and advice of my father but he passed away a few years ago and its taken me a this long to pick the fishing habit back up. I need to do it though as we did love it.

I do have a problem casting as i have a health problem and struggle to get distance so i have bought forty plus line. (sound like a saddo now sorry)
