Default What do you do when it is REALLY hard fishing

heya

Following on from my previous thread "winter blanks" I was wondering what people see/use as their "get out of jail" card when the going is really tough. When there are no fishing showing and you are getting no pulls or takes no matter what you try what do you do that makes you think

"this will get me a fish!"

Today I went through all the repertoire that SHOULD have got me a fish e.g apps bloodworm, buzzers, blobs, GRHE, PTN, damsels, etc and on floater and intermediate but I only had one pull on a damsel and I broke off on the strike! I gave each thing i tried a good go and was not swopping and changing all the time but to no avail, so what would YOU have done to get a fish.........don't be worrying about what the conditions and such were like I am just interested in finding out what different people but their faith in when all else fails

Just try using small and large flies, varying the colours such as , yellow dancer, or a zonker, then try maybe a dwial bach and buzzers, ptn's, or if others are catching and your not go around and ask them whats working for them

What you mean there are times when the fishing is easy ???????????????

I often think it would suit me better if I didnt take my flies with me. I love the chase you see. Its such an inconveniance when you catch a fish what with all that pulling and stuff. And dont get me started on having to wet my landing net.

In cold weather i find fish lathargic and not in the mood to chase,so slow and hard to the bottom in deeper water.I have my own favourite fly for this and have full faith in it and invented it (i think) has havnt seen it before and been using for years, and before anyone asks no its not a booby.
Took my young son out november last year nobody catching we had two over 6lb and one 9 and1/2lb all released.
Went back early following morning and another over 6lb,gave one to a fellow angler and he also started catching.

Hey lee.

Even the top anglers have the occasional blank - don't they?

Sit down, have a coffee, kick back and relax, enjoy the time. If I catch I catch, if I don't, no worries.

Lee,

There is no "magic bullet" - many of us blank and there is absolutely nothing we could have done about it - sometimes the luck just goes so don't worry about it, just plan another trip and hope that your luck will change.

Some anglers are more lucky than others - I went through session after session last year with blanks - so my luck was out - I always think "better luck next time".

Kind regards
