Default Advice Needed

My apologies for starting this thread here but I need some advice.

I recieved a pm from admin asking if I had a dual I.D. on here. what they said was that I (1973dereks) and 'seanie' are one and the same. Now we are good friends in the real world but trust me it the first time that we have ever been described as the same person. A decision hasn't been made yet by the powers that be, but I'm interested to hear if this has happened to anyone else.

The only thing I can think of is that while I was in his house over the last few weeks, I logged on under my own profile (a different IP address??) and while at work (another different IP address??) maybe this brought us to their attention.

I know this was an issue on here a while back and did cause a lot of hassles, but seanie and I have never even started a sniff of aggro here, strikes me as strange that they would think this is the case, this is more than a bit annoying.

Derek

I wouldn't worry about it Derek. I don't know how this kind of thing gets flagged to Admin, but if you've explained what's happened to them I'm sure it will be OK. (If it does go belly up, just say "fair cop, delete my Seanie account . . . just kidding Seanie).

During that log in debacle last year I created a second account because I couldn't log in with my usual one. It was only one letter different from my current username though. Aaaaanyway I never got round to using the new account as Admin sent me a new password for my original one. I forgot all about it until I received an email informing me that it I had two accounts and would I like Admin to delete one of them, and if so which one. Obviously they deleted the one I never used, but it does beg the question how it was flagged. IP or Username?

Somebody on admin must think that either Derek or I am scitzo. I am totally baffled as to why somebody would go to he trouble of a dual loggin. To what end would a person do this? What would he/she hope to gain by it? I enjoy logging in to the forum but this has put a damper on the whole thing. My first reaction when Derek pm'd me was " what the F***????" is this all about, now I am just pure mad. As of yet Derek is the only one to be notified of this absurd accusation. Perhaps they think he is the scitzo one and I am a figment of his imagination.
I have pm'd admin and as yet have yet to receive an answer or explanation as to why this accusation was made and why I was not notified. All this was done behind my back.

Seanie, you'd be surprised the lengths some people will go to, to cause trouble here sometimes. That's why Admin are keen on watching out for it.

Try not to take it too personally guys, I'm sure it'll be OK now you've explained. I mean, if you show up one day with the same IP you can't blame them for asking.

It's plainly obvious you're two different people.

I believe it's now zero tolerance on dual ID.

It is Jim, but surely this case does highlight a potential problem where it might appear someone has a dual ID?

I've logged into FFF on loads of PC's, if one of those has another member it might appear to Admin it's a dual ID right? It all depends how it's flagged though, but to rely purely on IP on a single occasion does 'creak' a little.

Default Dual Identity

Dual identities are quite a problem on here and all that has happened in this case is we have asked the question. All that is needed is a pm to explain the situation and I suspect all will be well!

There is certainly no need to 'have a go' at admin when they are just doing their job!

Closing this thread now!
